NCDOL Awards Contract to Local Imaging Company Firm

Wilmington, NCThe North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) has awarded a contract to local imaging company, Tarheel Imaging and Microfilming.  The company responded to an open bid request by the NCDOL for document imaging and indexing services for the state’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) files.

After winning the contract and successfully completing a trial period with sample files, Tarheel Imaging has begun converting paper OSHA records to electronic files.  The converted electronic files will be stored on a main frame that field agents can immediately access via handheld devices.  The ability to instantly retrieve OSHA records will improve efficiency and reduce employee work hours previously used to manually file, retrieve and transport records.

Tarheel Imaging met more than 23 required specifications to win the bid, including a stipulation on location—the NCDOL needed an imaging company that can deliver court-ordered original files to its Raleigh home office within a few hours.

Libby Lambeth, President of Tarheel Imaging, says:  “We were delighted to win this contract with the Department of Labor.  We learned that the bid was open due to the DOL’s dissatisfaction with a previous vendor.  For years, we’ve focused on two things: unparalleled customer service and near-perfect accuracy when digitizing records.  We’re proud that our strong track record won us this bid, and we plan to ‘wow’ the State with the same practices that have impressed our corporate customers.  For example, Tarheel donates all of the paper we shred to a local recycling company to help keep North Carolina clean and green.”
